O levantamento apontou, inclusive, que a proporção chega a quase metade dos pesquisados (49,7%) no 3º ano do ensino médio. O levantamento, feito em parceria com a Equidade.info (iniciativa que produz dados para pesquisas), ouviu 1.912 estudantes de 191 escolas de todo o país. Um dos dados de maior impacto é que as apostas começam aos 11 anos de idade. Pelo menos 9,5% dos estudantes até essa faixa etária disseram já ter feito apostas. Lichand considera que há uma tendência de culpar as pessoas e alerta para o fato de que as plataformas costumam sugerir lembretes sobre perdas passadas como intervenções promissoras para moderar a prática. O pesquisador explica que estudos científicos sugerem que essas soluções não funcionam. “Em vez disso, a proibição de propaganda e impostos relevantes sobre valores transacionados pelas bets colocam a responsabilidade nos atores corretos e têm efeitos comprovados sobre redução do risco de exposição”, destacou. Caminhos Para Lichand, os dados indicam ainda que educação financeira não tem se mostrado suficiente para prevenir exposição às bets, já que estudantes em escolas com maior proporção de alunos com letramento financeiro têm maior probabilidade de apostar e menor controle sobre ganhos e perdas. A pesquisa estima que as perdas agregadas podem ultrapassar R$ 1 bilhão entre o público pesquisado. Entre as recomendações feitas pelos organizadores do levantamento estão a adoção de medidas de proteção, como maior tributação sobre transações nas plataformas, restrições à publicidade e medidas de proteção especialmente voltadas a menores de 18 anos.
