Matt DiLiberto discussed the 25-year transformation of Lower Manhattan after Sept. 11, saying the area has been โreimaginedโ from a largely nine-to-five financial district into a vibrant neighborhood where people live, work, study, and visit. He said the central question after the attacks was not whether the area would be rebuilt, but how, how long it would take, who would do it, and what it would ultimately look like. DiLiberto pointed to the areaโs growth in population and housing, along with a mix of office space and memorialization around the World Trade Center site. From SL Greenโs perspective, he said the company focused more on residential projects in the area because of how the neighborhood evolved, citing developments such as 100 Church Street, 33 Beekman, and 180 Broadway. He framed the redevelopment as part of a broader need for New York to remain strong and vibrant not just in Midtown, but downtown as well. (Source: Bloomberg)
