A major issue plaguing the Athoor Assembly constituency is the plight of the weavers of Chinnalapatti. The major demand of the weavers was the establishment of an integrated textile park with dyeing units and treatment plants.
The weavers in Jakkampatti in the constituency, who comprise nearly 10,000 families, have been demanding weavers’ park and better infrastructural facilities.
