Citing the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, a street vendors’ representative says the authorities cannot evict any street vendor until a survey is completed and ID cards and vending certificates are issued to the street vendors.

Hundreds of street vendors have been evicted and the wares they were hawking seized, as part of the drive in the past one week.
