An AI application is a complete product or service that uses one or more AI capabilities to help a user achieve a goal. The visible interface may be a chat box, an accounting screen, a medical workflow, a robot, or an invisible background service.
Model versus application
A model predicts, generates, classifies, ranks, or reasons. An application surrounds that model with the pieces needed for real-world use: user identity, permissions, data retrieval, memory, tools, business logic, validation, logging, and human escalation.

Three levels of value
At the simplest level, an application assists a person. At the next level, it completes a task. At the highest level, it assumes responsibility for a measurable business result.
The most valuable applications usually move from “help me think” to “help me do” and finally to “deliver the result.”
